L'interview que je vous propose aujourd'hui est avec le groupe finlandais du métal mélodique : Thaurorod . Le groupe était crée en 2000 , mais le starting officiel était vers 2002 avec la sortie de leur démo . le groupe compte déjà 2 démos et il est en train de préparer un album qui sortira prochainement . l'interview est faite par moi avec la claviériste Emmi Taipale .
Talking , for the first time , with a band from finland is a big honor for dark interviews . So let's start with the traditional question and let's introduce the band to the tunisian metalheads .
So, we are a finnish melodic metal band and the band consists of a singer Markku Kuikka, guitarist Emil Pohjalainen and Lasse Nyman, keyboard player Emmi Taipale, basist Pasi Tanskanen and drummer Joonas Pykälä-aho
AT the first time , you have started by playing some iron maiden songs and finally , you have choosen the melodic heavy metal . can you explain us why the style moved from a traditional heavy metal to a melodic heavy metal ?
Well I don't know.. it was a natural choise I guess. To compose your own songs. And the way guys compose nowadays has changed and improved a lot in the previous years. We still have influences from many bands, but we try to do our own thing. Old Thaurorod sounds very different from Thaurorod today :)
and who is doing the composition and writing the lyrics ?
Well, Emil and Pasi does pretty much all the composing and lyrics are written by Pasi or me.
during your career , that starts on 2000 , there have been many "line-up"s . this instability is due to what ?
Actually Thaurorod was officially founded in 2002 and yes, the line-up has changed a lot. There has been different singers in band, but now we finally have a stable line-up. I guess most of the bands go through many line-up changes before they have a stable line-up.
and can we expect a new change in the futur ?
Markku Kuikka is the newest member in our band since our previous singer Lumi left the band. Well, you never know what the future can bring, but I think we have a permanent line-up now. Everyone in the band wants to do this music and work together, so I see no reason for big changes in the future.
the band have made many songs but the most important ones were those of " tales of the end " . Was this album the starting of the professional career ?
Well we have made three demos so far. "Tales Of The End" was the second one of them and..I guess you can say that. The sounds and the songs are far better compared to our first demo "Thaurorod". We have had very good feedback on both "Tales Of The End" and its follower "Morning Lake" promos. And now we are recording our debut album.
and can you tell us what was the miracle of " morning lake " ?
Hmm.. I don't know. There's been a big improvement in the songs and sounds comparing to "Tales Of The End". The goal is to make songs that sound pompous and epic. And the greatest reward is to have people that really like our music and comes to see us on the gigs.
can we know why Jani Vesanen was recruited ?
Well, I joined the band around same time, which was in the late 2005. The band needed a second guitarist and since Emil and Jani worked in the same place and were friends, it was a natural choice to ask him to join the band.
and what about the vocalist Markku kuikka ?
Well, we had problems with our previous singer. It seemed that he no more had time for the band because of his classical studies and he also lived very far away from us it just didn't work. One day we had a gig with Markku's other band Status Minor and later Markku showed us his interest and then we asked him to join the band.
talking about gigs , your first concerts outside finland were in spain . can you give us more informations about this experience ?
Oh, the tour in Spain was awesome. We absolutely didn't know what to expect in advance and the feedback was incredible. We are definitely to visit there again! We had two gigs in Catalunya, first took place in a venue called La Mirona. In La Mirona there have performed such names as Bruce Dickinson and Red Hot Chili peppers, so it was quite a big place. Second gig took place in a small city called Sant Hilari Sacalm in a venue Villaret. The crowd there were just incredible and we will never forget that! By the way, we were the first metal band to perform in that place. So it was pretty hilarious :)
can you give dark interviews some "exclusive " informations about your next album ?
Well we have a great feeling about the upcoming album. There will be 9 epic songs + intro on the album and we hope people will dig it. Something extremely fast, epic and melodic stuff to come
seems to be interesting ;) and are the same ones who make composition and lyrics ? I mean emil and pasi for the composition and Pasi and you for the lyrics .
Yes. But we all take part in arrangements.
and what about your upcoming shows , is there any ones outside finland ?
Well there will definitely be shows outside Finland in the future. We have plans to go to Spain again next year and there is also some talk about England.. let's see. You never know what happens after our album is released
we are tunisian so we must ask you this question : have you an idea about the arabic metal scene ?
No, we don't know that scene so much but I heard of this band called Yram :) It's definitely awesome to have metal bands break from different
